Locos de Cañón 2027, also announced as Canyon Madness, takes place January 29–31, 2027 in Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco. The gathering brings together experienced canyoners to explore routes in the region and share three days of adventure and camaraderie.
If you are thinking about joining, start by reviewing the requirements and logistics. The event is aimed at technically self-sufficient canyoners, and admission requires a prior review by CanyonsPV.
Who is the gathering for?
This is an advanced-level event. Participants are expected to know their gear, their techniques and how to make decisions inside a canyon.
Groups will have a maximum of ten people. To assess your participation, the organizers will review the experience you declare and contact the reference you provide in your application.
If you are just getting started, you can explore CanyonsPV tours and find an experience that matches your current level.
Routes and preliminary program
The official page lists Mismaloya, El Muerto, King Kong, Pilonas, Barranca Honda and Quimixto as routes of interest. Assignment will depend on each participant's experience, available spots and how the groups are organized.
Selecting a route on the form expresses your interest; the organizing team confirms the final route. Check the updated program to see how the days are planned and the conditions for each option.
Costs and services to consider
The published preliminary summary sets an event fee of MXN $1,000 plus MXN $500 for mandatory transportation from base camp to the routes: MXN $1,500 in total.
Camping is optional, with an announced cost of MXN $400 for both nights. Food and specific Quimixto charges are quoted separately and are not included in the MXN $1,500. Check the current amounts and conditions on the event page before planning your budget.
How to request your spot
Complete the registration with your details, technical experience, routes of interest and a reference. After the review, CanyonsPV will let you know its decision or ask for more information.
If your application is approved, you will receive instructions to pay a 50% deposit. The organizers require the balance to be paid three weeks before the event. Also review the deposit and spot-transfer conditions before paying.
Prepare your gear and your questions
Good preparation starts with describing your experience accurately. List the activities and routes you have already done, and use the review process to clear up any questions about how demanding the event is.
Check personal gear and your group's needs with the organizers before buying or packing. Plan route logistics, accommodation and food separately so you arrive with a complete plan.
